With you-all's great wisdom, this may be a dumb question, but I can't
seem to google the answer.
Can you legally register and drive a vehicle like this on the roads?
After all, what DMV clerk would recognize that a Studebaker Weasel is
an armored vehicle? :)

I think it would depend upon the individual state where you live.
A Weasel is not an armored vehicle in any case; it is regarded as a
soft-skinned vehicle. The hull is only slightly thicker than
conventional autobody metal.

The M29 Weasel isn't an amored vehicle, weighs about 4k pounds and exterts
less than 2.5 psi on the original 20" tracks. The tracks have rubber
traction blocks (or pads) and the vehicle can be driven aggressively on
paved streets without damage to the streets.
