Here's a ad for the most moronic attempt at an engine and Frame transplant.
It has a Toyota frame underneath, with a 22R Toyota
4 cylinder.Don't get me wrong, I bought one new, a Toyota, good pickup,
drive it to work everyday. But if I was to build a street rod I would at
least put a bowtie motor in it, so the other street rodders would not Laugh
at me.

I think he means tonneau cover. Just another name for a Toronado hood.
A couple of years ago I gave away a 1982 Toronado cause I assumed there
was no market for the body parts. Had I known about this I would have
went out and purchased a Stude pickup and used the hood, bumpers
interior frame and drivetrain from the Toro and built a "Homie Roller"
of my own. I definetly would have used the sun roof. This truck was
listed on e-bay a while back. Any one out there interested in
purchasing a 1948 Tucker with low miles? Slow credit, bad, credit, no
problem. Buy here pay here. Only $1948.00 jimmijim

Well, it's not a street rod, it's a Kustom. Or a lead sled, if you
will. Not a rat rod, either. Clearly, a LOT of work was done to make
it into what it is. I actually kind of like it. It works for me, in an
over-the-top George Barris kind of way.
And the Toyota driveline wouldn't bother me one bit, especially with
three buck a gallon gasoline. That 22R is darn near bulletproof.
Kustoms, if you go back and research the originals, rarely had big
power mods. They were for cruisin' and stylin', not racing. Many
simply kept their stock powerplant, and others simply got a convenient
low-performance engine swap.
I think the builder of this rig has done a fine job of adhering to the
spirit of '50s kustoms.
Tontough cover instead of "tonneau cover"? I guess the lister isn't an
English major. Wasn't a Tonto cover a breechcloth?
Remember when Rod and Custom magazine was printed in a digest format?
That truck, as it sits now, would have looked perfectly at home there.
I like it a lot. That's scary. <G>

I think the front is quite cool, but the rear seems a bit too busy.

Gee, Malcom - I saw a nice modified bulletnose at a Nebraska meet with
the same Toyota motor in it. The owner claimed it ran 80 MPH, and got
good mileage to boot. Lotsa room underhood to work on it, too.
Coulda been wierder, ya know! It could have a Mitsuibishi engine in
it..... (subtle dig at Mr. Gillette's SUV)

Thanks Chris. WE like our SUV! LOL

I like it too. Well, except for the Toyota engine, should have a Stude
in it but some people can't be taught......

I like all the work that went into it.
The headlights were ugly on the original car and transplanting has not
helped.
I think 26mpg is a good number in days of $3.00 per gallon- it means you
can DRIVE the truck, not just polish and dream of driving.
It beats the hell out of the belly button engine powered crap that is put
out as 'Custom" now a days.
Mark (This opinion is worth exactly as much aswhat you paid for it)

So, how's this thing called a 1951 Studebaker?? Must be a 15 year old that did the work/e-Bay advertisement. 8-)
