Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I did not buy this 63 Daytona on
ebay.

I had a 10K snipe bid set, but he ended the auction early and sold it.

Did a NG'er get it ?

It would not be a crime if you did buy it John.  It should not be a big
deal and you should not have to defend yourself regardless. It is a
free country.  We all know money talks and bull sh.t walks. So the
other guy got to the seller with obviously a good offer.  I found it
amazing that this car went from an over priced piece of crap to the hot
board on the EBAY questions.  I could care less, I have an identical
one in my garage that I have been babying.  Do what you want John.  If
they don't like it, $@&% them!!!

Yep, few ebay'ers made lite of the guys starting bid with a ebay
comment, and it gave the guy a heads up in a hurry. He got a few e-mails
telling him that his car was indeed a rare car and his starting bid was
if anything low.  By the time I explained all the expensive bits that
were in the trunk he had a few smart shoppers interested, one a bit
smarter and faster then me.<g>

What's all the hoopla?   What makes this car special?  Looks like a
car that needs restoring to me.   What am I missing?

I think someone mentioned that they checked the serial no. with the JTN
registry and it came up as a factory non-package R2/4-speed car.  Thus
if the block the guy has really is numbers matching it should be a JTS
block.  Note the tach in the dash.  I wouldn't mind having a black R2
hardtop myself :)

I always check serial's against the Jet Thrust registry (The best $20
I ever spent) as did a few others and it turned out to be a early
factory 4 spend R2 car. Since even unrestored R2's bring over 20K,
buying it would be a "investment".

I predict within 10 years, almost all the factory cars will be back
in one form or another. Just the serial and body tags and engine are
enough to bring the car back and some go further.

He told me $500 if I bought the car, later said he'd toss it in if the
car sold. It ws missing about 2K worth of supercharger stuff though.
