More curious then anything, but what does $4500 get you in this case??
Whats it need or not need if thats a shorter list. My bet is that its
another"nothing more expensive than a cheap Avanti"

Pretty complete and decent car.  Its needs are as follows........

Paint

Seat Covers

Some fiberglas repair (hole punched thru deck lid, other minor cracks)

Hog Troughs

Frame repair (bottom plate, rear crossmember, front spring perch areas
rebuilt)

Total brake job (cheaper to convert to Turner's brake kit)
Tires

Chrome needs replated

Should I go on?

I've seen folks just drive them carefully without the frame or hog
trough repair. If you have $1700 and about 60 hours of your own labor
you could fix the frame, troughs and brakes and have a fairly cheap
driver and pass on the other expensive bits.

YeeOUCH........pretty much what I would have guessed. So these
overpriced cars such as this example do they usually get purchased by
the undeducated?
Or do they sit long enough for some shrewd someone to come along and
actually get it for more what its worth.
My guess would be that usually someone who's been dreaming about a
certain model finds it and they finally found one they can afford and
they jump right in not really knowing what its going to cost em.

It's not over priced, hell that's rough Hawk money. They are just
expensive to restore.

Actually, the guy who has it for sale owns one of the local NAPA
garages.  He bought it from a long-time customer and paid too much for
it and now wants out of it.

IF I wanted a '70 A2, this would be a not-so-bad car to have.  It just
needs everything.  By the time you went thru it and made it nice, you
would have at least as much as it is worth into it so why not buy one
that is already what you want?
