I was missing the potmetal that goes on top of the doors and the long
moulding that goes in the middle under the windshield on my Speedster.  My
mentor had cores with no good chrome that look like they will work as the
profiles match up with the rest of the windshield molding and the short
quarter panel moulding.  Of course the mounting will have to change, but I
can deal with that.  I understand this is a what the market will bear deal,
but whats a fair price for these three molding cores?

If the stuff is pit free, what ever the fella wants, and is only limited by
what your silly enough to pay.

If it's pitted, all bets are off.  Check the depth of any pitting.  Anything
deeper then 3/32 is scrap, or will be really expensive to have fixed for
plating.

Where's Jerry Forester when you need him?

The pot metal on top of hardtop doors was essentially the same from
'53-55.  There were two attachement methods.  The early type used  a
clip that attached to the door that the trip pressed into.  The second
type pressed directly into holes in the door.  You can adapt the 2nd
type to 1st type cars.  Much harder to adapt the 1st type to second
type cars.  55's used only the second type, but so did some 54's.  In
any event, they are super hard to find in rechromable condition.  I'd
say that if you can find a pair of the second type in virtually  ANY
condition, pay the asking price and then pay to  have them rechromed.
Also, make sure you don't use the coupe mouldings.  They look similar
(same length, same fit to the mouldings under the rear quarter window),
but aren't the same.

The moulding under the windshield is much easier to find.  It is the
same piece for hardtops, coupes, and sedans from '53 through at least
55.   These should be relatively cheap in rechromable condition.

The long molding under the windshield is also the same from 53-55 I think.

I have these cores that are all replatable, unfortunately my parts book does
not have the trim section.  I'm not sure what they are off of but they look
like they should work.
303538 Windshield center moulding
306519  Door top moulding
306518  Door top mounding

Anybody see any reason these would not work?
Whats a fair price for these?
Thanks
Bill

Those are casting numbers, not part numbers.  I don't have any of these
parts on hand, so I don't know if the casting numbers you give are
correct.  The part numbers you want are...

Windshield center moundling (actually called Cowl Belt Moulding,
center) 304078
Door Belt moulding right 306516
Door Belt moulding, left 306517

My guess (my guess only) for mouldings in re-platable condition are...

Windshield center $10-25
Door top mouldings $50-100 per stick.

It will probably cost you at least $100 per stick to get them plated if
they don't need too much work.  The sky's the limit if they have pits.
