I finally got the new tranny in the 63 Daytona today. Got everything
put all back together and fired her up. She runs smooth as a button.
But then again, you can't really hear the engine over the LOUD exhaust!
It has no muffler at all. Man it sounds nasty! I will propably put
glass packs or something on it at some point. i may do like it like our
56 Champ. TWO glass packs and dual exhaust. And that's on a flatty six.
All the 56 needs is two carbies...
But, I'm glad I got to hear the Lark run. No brakes, so I couldn't
drive it. But that will be fixed soon enough. Hopefully, the car will
be "finished" by the 2006 Georgia State Meet. (well, it will be a
somewhat nice car, no trophy winner). Can't wait...

cylinder costs?) Burnette

Superb Matt...
Don't sweat whether your Stude is done or not....
Just get it safe to drive and bring it!

Those are my intentions. It will get done, some time. And I'm sure that
it will make it to Gainsville in 2006 too...

Those are my intentions Mr. Jeff. I'm not really worried about looks
right now. I just wanna drive it. I know that it will get "done" soon
enough.
I'v got an uncle who's a Mercedes machenic. He's ganno get me a hood
ornament for one to go on mine Lark. (ya know they kinda favor each
other), so that when i drive it to school next year, I will confuse the
crap out of people. I'm goona take all the embems off except for the
side "Daytone" script. It won't have Studebaker or Lark wrote on it
anywhere. I can see it now..."what a pretty Mercedes, I didn't know
that they made a Daytona. Must be the really upscale model".

I wouldn't do that... why have people thinking you're driving an old POS
Mercedes?  If you're going to do that you might as well sell it and buy an
old POS Mercedes.  Those who would question the Daytona model Mercedes
probably wouldn't know that Studebaker made a Daytona model... or have even
heard of a Studebaker.

Hell, why not??  With the hemi you're stuffing in your Daytona, you
may as well buy an old MOPAR and have it correct.

I guess I'm not stripping off every Studebaker emblem off it and trying to
disguise it with another manufacturer's emblems.  What I'm doing is no
different than what dozens of others have done with Chevy engines.  I'm not
trying to pass my Lark off as a Mopar product.  I take it he's going after
the "Wow!!! Look at that Mercedes" reaction, I'm going for the "How the hell
did you get that in there" reaction.

But it's his car, he's free to do whatever he wants... I just gave my
opinion.

THanks for all of your opinions guys. But I'm not going to put any
Mopar engine in it. And the Mercedes thing was just a thought...

Oh, wait, I read it the wrong way. I was thinking it was ME that you
were referring to with the Mopar stuff. Even though my uncle is a Mopar
Man. Lee, are YOU putting a HEMI in a Daytona?
Matthew (my uncle has 2 1970 Super Bee's.) Burnette
