I wonder how to get in touch w/ insurance co's in order to buy flooded
Studes from them after they settle?

Have you any idea what it would take to restore a submarine?  Nothing on
instrument panel would be salvageable, same with seating surfaces, engine
transmission etc. Even if insurance company gave you the cars it would be
cost prohibibitve even for Jay Leno.

I tried to salvage a van years ago that vandals had run into a water filled
quarry. Got it running after a lot of time and money, but never ran or drove
right after that. Something would go bad just after I got somethng else
fixed. Finally junked it. Will take a junkyard Studey anytime.

Some of these may make perfect candidates for hot rod Studes though. Brand
X seats, generic carpeting, R1 power, and new instruments, which, by the
way, are not that hard to change out, and you've got a pretty cool ride.
The 12v gages from a Lark cluster are direct bolt in repacements for my
old 6v gages in my 54 Coupe. Lets make some Stude hot rods.

If the water was reasonably fresh, they might not be too bad. The
instruments MIGHT clean up. One think you'd have going for you is that
the Studebaker electrical system is dead-nuts simple compared to that
of a new car.

OTOH, rather than circling like a vulture, looking to buy
flood-damaged Studes for pennies on the dollar,  <G> why not offer to
help the owner of flood-ravaged Studes get their treasures back on the
road?
