"BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - While Americans are shelling out record prices for
fuel, Iraqis pay only about 5 cents a gallon for gasoline - a benefit of
hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies bankrolled by American
taxpayers."

Yeah, but damn few car bombs go off in America today.

My electric is on all the time and I have as much running water as I
want.

Oh, yeah - we're killing the islamist fundamentalists ....THERE.
instead of them killing us ....HERE.

I'll live with the gas prices, thank you.....

It seems to be economically feasible to set up a coal gasification plant
to convert high sulfur bituminous coal to unleaded gas (plus liquid sulfer
and another couple of marketable byproducts).

Pop was involved in plans for a plant like that in '79, but it never came
to completion.

Calculated cost in '79 was .89 per gallon. (no taxes) Dunno how that would
figure out today.

Well, If you like the gas prices over there, move over there! Just watch out
for flying bullets, car bombs etc.
Mark, you ARE right, I also have CLEAN running water, electricity that's on
all the time, a solid roof over my head, and I don't worry about car bombs
and flying bullets.
I LIKE my freedom!
I also have "several" cars that I own, The reason gas is so cheap over
there, not very many people have cars to drive!
I'll be leaving for Ashville in a short while, in my Studebaker!

I doubt one can gather much sympathy for the Islamic bad guys with that
story.

(A bit of trolling in process with that story).

But one may be able to read between the lines, and whine some about some
past election, or how bad our current president is.

Hell, gas in Iraq hasn't been over 5 cents a gallon for years... so this
isn't exactly breaking news.  What's the average household income in Iraq
these days... about $4.00/month?  Does each family own 3 cars... their
dependancy on gasoline is probably a drop in the bucket compared to the US.
