Pat Drnec - 09 Sep 2005 15:44 GMT Got back from Vegas last night, net a nice young couple who managed to leave N.O. on Wed - boy, did they have some stories. They're starting over in Las Vegas, they'll stay in my place for 2 months until they get on their feet. Neither has a Studebaker, but he was admiring the Cruiser...

People have been there for me at various times in my life - I'll never be able to pay the karmic debt I've incurred, but I feel obliged to try.

The ol' Fox sure ain't taking any refugees in!
> Yea Pat,you did a great thing.Im proud of the help Canada's sending, and the > Mexicans too! Barry - 10 Sep 2005 18:30 GMT AP reported "unarmed Mexican troops" moving across the border, heading to N.O. However, witnesses have seen 2 convoys of ARMED Mexican troops moving through Texas.
One would think that with more than 20 million Mexican nationals living in the US, that plenty of room for a few thousand refugees could be found down there.

John Poulos - 10 Sep 2005 21:56 GMT Mexican Army sent a convoy of seventy trucks with field kitchens to feed 7000 a day for 20 days.

Barry - 10 Sep 2005 23:27 GMT the AP states that convoys of "unarmed" Mexican troops were heading across Texas, but witnesses have seen convoys of ARMED Mexican troops travelling acros the state, which is illegal. Uniformed, active duty US marines, who went to Mexico to participate in the honor guard at the funeral of a marine who was a Mex national killed in Iraq, were not allowed to carry REPLICA fire arms! One wonders why we can not help fill some of the 20 million vacancies down there left by the 20 million illegals now resident in the US!

midlant@earthlink.net - 12 Sep 2005 08:32 GMT I've been trying to think of what I could do without going through one of the regular charities. Today, after listening to what the police there had to go through, with the additional load put on the by the bums on the force who deserted, I now have an answer.
The problem: How to I get it to them? Anyone there have an idea? I could go through the city or the union, but I figure that they will take their cut.

As to someone taking a cut, we are talking about the N.O. culture, so things might well be different than what I'm accustomed to.
I do admire those that stayed and did "the job." They deserve more than just a pat on the back, that's for sure. I wasn't sure N.O. had any "Finest," but turns out they do. Maybe they can rebuild on that foundation, eh? Hope so.
