I have a opportunity to purchase almost 3 52 converts, to build a complete
one. All Champions, all basket cases, but maybe manageable into a single
good one..
After searching the internet for a 52 convert for sale, all I found was a
photo of a nice 52 convert. None for sale.
Other than "what the market will bear" anyone have any ideas what they are
worth dollarwise???

Maybe 20K done right, but it'll cost you more then that to do it.

Jim, if you wind up getting these, and there are extra top bows,
window frames and such, you could probably get a good $ for these.
I know where there is a '52 Commander starliner that might be
available. Body is not REAL rusty, actually not all that bad.

Whatever the market value would be when done would equal what it would take
you to create one from three.
Because there is no roof, Studebaker built a subfloor boxes, with hidden
cross bracing within them. These boxes ran the entire length from wheel well
to wheel well. The body mounts were made from the same steel as the body
and rusted out faster.
In 1990 I purchased a 1947 Commander Convertible, working every night after
work from Aprill to November it took me the entire amount of that time to
rebuild the amazing convoluted sub floor boxes.
It cost me $14000 to buid a 47 Starlight, I am guesstimating the 47
Convertible will cost me $19,000 to finish. Why bring home three basket
cases to make one? Only reason is would be to pull the best engine, but
your going to have to rebuild that engine anyway. take all three to find the
best top, top motor, and rear window, possibility, Take all three for best
dash..
There are a lot parts you will need, and there will be a lot of parts that
you won't need as back up.
It might be a good idea to make a deal with the seller for him to allow you
to spend the next few weekends to pull tem apart where they are, then pick
the best body, chassis, motor etc. and then pay for the disposal of wjat
you don't need. No sense dragging it home and then doing it
Good Luck

Buy them all, if the price is good. Use what you need from them to build
the best car you can. Sell all the spare parts you don't use. Someone will
need them and this will help fund the project.
