Stude kid needs help!

tedharbit@aol.com - 11 Sep 2005 20:44 GMT Wish I could think of a good way to say this but will stumble through it. I received an email from Stude Bob. He has been corresponding with Kent Fedor and Kent is not having a good time to say the least! If you recall, he is only 21 years old and had built a nice Lark and it caught fire and was completely destroyed. One might say that's the good part.
The bad part is Kent's health. He contacted a staff infection and is really having a tough time, not only with his health but financially as well. He is confined to bed now, will be for some time, has to take some very expensive meds, does not have insurance, has exhausted most of the red tape one has to go through for help, and is not having any luck getting help.
Sometime after he lost the Lark, he purchased another Lark in Arizona (he lives in Michigan). Shortly after this purchase he got sick.
After the experience I had getting a transmission and rear end transported free of charge by a few of you gracious people for Snurdley's son, I think it might be possible to get Kent's Lark from Arizona to Indiana. If it can get to Indiana, we will see that it gets to South Bend where Kent has relatives and down the road when he gets healthy enough he can pick it up there.
Bob is coming to the drags next week and I am taking some little things that might cheer Kent up some and Bob and I will let it be known at the drags about Kent's situation and see if some of the Stude people there might want to contribute in any way and Bob will take it on up to Kent after the drags. I think Kent is about an hour or two north of Stanton where the drags are held.
On top of getting the car from Arizona to Indiana (or Michigan), if any one would want to send anything to Kent, whether it be monetary or just some Stude item that might cheer him up a little, you can send it direct to Kent or to either Bob or myself and we will see that he gets it.
I'm sure Kent would appreciate any emails we can send his way to help pass the time while he is confined to bed. His email address is deliriouskenny@gmail.com
We send relief to others during a crisis like Katrina, etc., and I think it is good that we do something for people like Kent. I know what you did for Snurdley and his family was REALLY appreciated.
Let's see if the people between Arizona and Michigan might be able to get the Lark started this way.

bobcaripalma@hotmail.com - 11 Sep 2005 21:16 GMT Ted:
Would you please spell out Kent's e-mail address using the word "at" instead of the "@" sign? At least some of our programs block out part of an e-mail address when it is written in the conventional e-mail address format that includes the "@". So I and probably others do not have Kent's full e-mail address.
Yes, when Kent's "new" '61 Lark Cruiser gets anywhere to the Indiana border, I will take it to Kent's specified relatives in South Bend. BP

Does he need engine or trans parts? What about misc. stuff? Just let me know and I'll do what I can. I am glad you made this call. Its good for us to take stock of all the good that has come to us through our love of Studes and the hobby, not to mention the friendships we have developed and make good for Kent. C'mon guys, lets show him what its all about. It really sucks that he not only had his Lark taken from him, but this will really boost his spirits to get well too. And besides, if we get him feeling better and back on his feet health wise, then all the evil vendors will have another sucker, I mean customer to sell stuff too. <G>
Matthew Burnette - 11 Sep 2005 22:54 GMT I can read his e-mail, it's deliriouskenny at gmail.com

I don't think Kent will know what all he needs until he gets the car but when he does, we will be sure to let all of you know.
Thanks for all the quick responses of offers. Gotta make Kent perk up a little.

Looks like we need transportation to Texas and then it can be sent all the way to South Bend from there.
Any channels available to get it to Killeen, Texas?
Ted

Jeff Rice - 12 Sep 2005 11:51 GMT Yes, I would take issue with that. The IC money should be voted on by the dormant membership to be spent. Let's do it right. Might be a good cause to call for a meeting. Jeff

Jamie Alexander - 12 Sep 2005 21:44 GMT Hi Guys, This is Kent Its Truely appreciated and so very kind of all your thoughts. Through these "trials" I have had most my quote "friends" turn their back, so its so appreciated when someone really does care.
Due to a truely bizarre incident friday (Email StudeBob or Ted for info, I cannot post it here for many reasons), I had my computer confiscated, so understand my posts here will be erratic, ie when my cousin drags her computer up here for me to use.
Right now Lark parts would not do me much good as I'm more or less confined to bed.
I still have 6 weeks more of this treatment, and believe me when I get better and through this I will never quite take life for granted again. Feel free to email me ( deliriouskenny at gmail dot com )but dont expect an instant responce now that I lost my computer, and I dont think I'll be able to get another for awhile. Kent (this is my cousin's ng & email account, since this was sent on her computer)
Jamie Alexander - 12 Sep 2005 22:45 GMT Oh BTW, parts wont do me much good since I'm confined to bed, but due to my large medical bills, a donation would be much appreciated if anyone cared to do so. Thanks and God Bless, Kent (this is my cousin's ng & email account, since this was sent on her computer)
markshere2 - 13 Sep 2005 02:48 GMT I kicked in a tiny bit years ago and I vote yes!
FlatheadGeo@aol.com - 15 Sep 2005 03:13 GMT > I kicked in a tiny bit years ago and I vote yes! Ok, I have some NOS Studebaker rear ends without hubs or brake plates (they contain the 'hams'-sic-), I could donate one for Kent. I'll get the numbers off of the rears. As the last IC Treasurer, I await the IC's decision re: the monetary donation. FlatheadGeo
John Poulos - 15 Sep 2005 03:56 GMT I too am waiting, Jeff wants a vote, aye. <g>

Bigbob62 - 15 Sep 2005 11:06 GMT AYE! What better use for the funds than to help one of our own?
John Poulos - 15 Sep 2005 14:33 GMT I think Jeff wants a more formal vote. Jeff have you figured out what you'd like to do ?

Jeff Rice - 15 Sep 2005 14:50 GMT I think it is a noble idea, and support the idea of helping those in need. But when it comes to spending other people's money in a club account, I am pretty firm about getting the groups permission. (I am sure the past membership secretary at the SDC had some good cause too, but didn't ask <no G>)
Let's call a meeting (I'll try to send out a mass e-mail to members) and we can call it to order and make a motion, discuss, and vote. Shouldn't take more than 5 hours, knowing this yackitty group <lol>.... (IC Members... Look for an E-mail tomorrow) Jeff

FlatheadGeo@aol.com - 16 Sep 2005 00:15 GMT My offer of the rear end was purely a personal one in the nature of a gift to Kent. I did not mean to imply an auction to raise money. FlatheadGeo (I know what a serious disease can do- my wife is recovering from pancreatic cancer surgery)
64daytonaht - 15 Sep 2005 04:22 GMT Are we having an auction to raise money for the kid?
