Mark,
Remember, that auction is in $Canadian, with a current buying advantage of
nearly 20%, ($1Can = $US 0.845, or $1US = $Can 1.18) so what you bid will be
roughly what you pay in $US even with the 20% "buyers premium" balancing it
out. Also, a non-Canadian bidder (US, for example) would not pay the
Provincial 8% sales tax and the Federal 7% GST, as it would be an "exempt
from taxes" export.
