Can you imagine the F*#d crowd trying to figure out what the heck version of a 289 was in this truck.

Challenge: What clues narrow down  the year of V-8 in this truck ? I'll toss out a couple:

Two hole valve covers (changed in mid-production in 196*)
Delco window distributor (used only in 196* and 196*)
Generator(not Alternator)  (switched in 196*)
Others?

I'm guessing early 62, the distributor may not be factory stock. (used
only in 61 except Hawk)

It's an early '62 truck motor for trucks larger than 3/4 ton.  The
Champ type trucks had 2 bolt thermostat housings.  My 7 E 40 had a
Delco window distributor also but not sure if it was factory equipped
with one.

Too bad ol' Sonny deserted us for the SDC Forum...this truck is only 25
miles from Buffaloona (isn't that how he spelled it?).

$200 for the truck...but a free Studebaker 289 w/OD tranny comes with
it!

Yeah, Swansea, SC.  God's Country... if you're into snake handling at
church.

could i be wrong or is that stude motor in the f*rd from 1962 or
earlier.  the oil filter is a give away being a partial flow instead of
a full flow.
