I have a used running R1 motor out of an Avanti. Anyone know what a
good asking price is? Does $800 sound good?
John Poulos - 17 Sep 2005 05:48 GMT

Where is it?
What is on it?
What works?
What doesn't work?
Do you ship parcel post? <g>
C'mon!
You know, the standard stuff....
A free engine in lower Flipovia is no deal if you can't get there to pick it
up.

Oh, they'll take it, but what are you going to do with all the leftover
Kaiser Darrin and Nash Healey stamps in the booklet, after you put on 200 or
so Studebaker stamps?

FWIW:  Re-segregated packets of Kaiser and Nash postcards are bid to an eBay
premium, T-birds are "at par" face value, but there is not even a watcher
for the 'Vettes...philatelic Evil Vendor (wife) thinks it's because they
don't come with a gold chain.

I don't know, I told him I'd buy it, but have not heard back.

Well how can I put it. You tipped your hand when you appeared to be that
overeager. Now he says to himself,
"Man if he's that quick to repond, maybe I can get $1600
out of it."
Malcom
PS Or he could have been trolling.

If I had waited, someone like me would have beat me to it.<g>
I don't like to play games, if I I feel the price is fair, I'll buy.The
seller will either take the "bird in hand" or risk going for the two in
the bush.

A hair quicker then the other fella.  The early bird gets the worm, kinda
thing.  If extortion becomes the game, someone else can pay play.

Well said. I follow a simple rule. If a guy offers me a price and I
accept and he comes back later asking for more, the deal is off.

I was at a swapmeet today. There was a part I wanted but another guy was
looking at it.He said he needed to talk to his buddy and would be back in 3
minutes. He set the part down and walked away. He was 2 minutes 55 seconds
too late.I suppose I should have let him have the 3 minutes....not!

Bob, your late.  Had it been me he would have been 2 minutes 59 seconds to
late.

I just don't do that indecisive a.s scratching thing very well, either!

Once wrote a check for a Avanti within 3 minutes of the owner putting a
sign on the windshield. The were two or three tire kickers under the car
and hood at the time. By the time they asked for a test drive, I was
putting a plate on the car. I was sorta hoping you would have passed on
your Avanti that I looked at after you spoke to the owner too, but you
were not a "a.s scratcher".<g> BTW, how is that car doing ?

Yep!  Kinda fits, though.  Avanti Gold.  But then again, I've all ways been
head over heals for Goldie Hawn.  <G>

I was on the other side of the table with a NOS 31 President hood
ornament. The guy spent five minute calling me a crook for my price and
walked away. A vendor walked up, bought it for $350 and later sold it to
the same guy for $600. He was not a happy camper.<g>

I already have a buyer. Sorry for the confusion. I was looking for a
market price response, not to start people salivating.

FYI, I let it go for $700 without the R series crank damper.
