Does anyone have experience with a Stude V8 surging.
A friend of mine has that problem and he thought is was running too
lean.
I send him some of the biggest jets available for the Stromberg
carb.Any sugestions of why the engine would surge even though the gas
pedal is held steady?
Thanks

My '64 Daytona surged when running at steady throttle. My solution was a
new distributor. The Prestolite was so badly worn that the dwell would
change according to the wobble as it turned.

Bob,
My R2 Lark was surging and it turned out to be the jet and rod
combination. Of course that has an AFB.

1. Vacuum advance on a V8 Lark
2. Bad PCV valve on an Avanti R1

Bob,
Most likely a distributor problem.

fuel pressure, a gremlin that had me fooled once and caused surging
that drove me nuts.

I had a horrible case of surging at one time on my '63 2bbl. What it
wound up being was a piece of crud, blocking one of the jets. There
were two large plugs with a screw driver slot near the base. The
offending crud had wedged itself into the hole of the one jet. KK
