I had the car for several weeks. I even drove the car home from
SanFrancisco. It cruised at 70-75 mph so smoothly, I couldn't believe it.
The OD on this car is perfect for the highway. The brakes were good, but I
still fell strongly that the car is way too fast for the drums that are on
it. It needs disc brakes. It has great acceleration. In spite of the
performance, it still needs a 4bbl carb. I missed the sound of the
secondaries kicking in. The interior is delightful to sit on and is very
comfy. Just like sitting in your living room. The glass is good. The doors
work great. The rubber is new, so they need a bit of a slam to get them to
shut tight. When they are closed though, they are pretty quiet. This is
not a show car. It was built to be a driver and that is what it is. As
with any 50 year old driver, it needs a bit of touch up here and there.
This car would look fabulous with a set of stainless wheelwell trim and
the rocker trim from a GT. I am not a big fan of them, but it would suit
this car well. Anyway, thats my 2 cents worth. At least I had the pleasure
of driving it for a little while. I wish I could keep it myself. My 54 Cpe
would get jealous, though and do a smokey burnout on its hood just for
spite. I would be happy to answer questions for any NGr who's interested
in buying the car.
