What holds the doors on a '55?  I'm not in town so I can't look at mine.
If it's bolts, not a problem but if it's big philips screws, how do you
get 'em out?  I've bought a hulk but will be disassembling it for parts
when I get home.

TIA
John

Impact screwdriver.  Only tool that removes those big Philips screws.

Penetrating oil and heat may also be required, but don't even try with a
regular screwdriver...

Big Phillips screws, I use a phillips screw bit on a 3/8 drive rachet and
all the rusty bolt removal techniques I know.

STOP DO NOTHING.................LISTEN CAREFULLY......................
REMOVE DOOR WITH THE HINGES ATTACHED< DO NOT TAKE HINGES OOF DOOR

If car is a HT and anot a pillard coupe, open doors, and then weld a
stiff bar between door posts to keep opening as it was..........BUT
WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT TAKE HINGES OOF DOOR.

When ready i\to install, the three screws in the post will alghn the
door

Thanx, guys.  I'll take a biiiig philips socket, an impact tool and a
rachet.  It's in a field so hard to do much else.

A torch would be nice. If you tak the front fenders off you can apply heat
and then penetrating oil to the back side of the bolts.
In order to get some of mine loose I had to heat the heads to a cherry red
and let them cool and then use the impact screw driver.
They have them at Harbor Freight and they come with large screw driver bits.
