The 2005 "Meet At The Pass" hosted by the High Plains Chapter was held last
weekend (Sept 23-24) in Raton NM. The attendance was down about 40% from
last year which I attribute to the shock of  hurricanes Katrina and Rita and
the escalated price of petrol. All in all, we had 24 Studebaker cars and
trucks and a single custom Packard. The event came off smoothly and we had a
great time. The icing on the cake was that the National SDC Vice President,
Richard Dormois of Mesa AZ, was in attendance and spoke to the crowd of 58
which included the Mayor of Raton and a representative of the Raton Chamber
of Commerce. Mr. Dormois said that he had been regretting that he'd missed
the last two meets and was glad to have made this, the 3rd annual Meet At
The Pass. Richard handed out some of the car show awards at the awards
dinner and faithfully lived up to his reputation of being a "timeless"
speaker.
