I imagine he threw that in there to get more search results. I imagine
someone might search eBay for "suicide doors..."

Too bad it didn't have suicide doors; it would be a one-of-a-kind. I have
seen pics of the styling study 4-door hardtop body that had suicide doors on
it. One more reason Packard fell behind the times in 1955/6, given the
popularity of the Cadillac 4 door hardtop, and Packard had none. By the
way, Bob, does you dad remember any of his customers asking when Packard was
going to offer one?? Wonder if its still lurking around East Grand
somewhere... <g>

Nope, Craig, he's never mentioned it. His beef was how slow the 1955s
came dribbling out of the factory, and how poorly made they were once
they DID arrive.
He was right next to the Chevrolet/Cadillac dealer in Paris
[IL](actually, there was a small bar between the two dealerships). Dad
didn't get his first 1955 Packard or Clipper of ANY model until the
last week of January or the first week of February 1955. Can you
imagine how many would-be 1955 Packard sales were lost to Cadillac,
Buick, etc, between October 1954 and late January 1955?
The "new-body" 1957 Packards, had they been built in Detroit, would
have used a modified Lincoln body, so they sure would have had a 4-door
hardtop in the lineup. BP
