DWG'd the slut and the monster truck.
Then, I set out to rebuilt the heater control valve in the GT with a "kit" I
ordered from NAPA.
Even before I got the thing back together, I called Robert K. to order a
whole new valve, as I was sure my effort would fail. I got his answering
machine, so carried on with the rebuilding project. Got it back together,
and installed it in the car. So far, no leaks, and I feel warm air. Will
road test it in the morning. A dirty job (the road test,) but it must be
done.
Jeff called me about the time I was putting the valve assembly back
together, but he was of no assistance. He laughed at me, as though he
thought I should have known better.
I won't cancel the order until tomorrow. <G> Robert, if you are reading
this, disregard my email and phone message... but, STAND BY! <G>
The kit cost me $14.64, including shipping. Robert's $95.00 price for a new
one was beginning to look like a bargain before I got through. The "kit"
consists of one damn rubber gasket, with great instructions, which are too
optimistic, IMHO. I kept thinking of how much easier it would have been
just to install a new one.
When I got done with that, I went to look at a little sweetheart of a Stude
that I did not know was in the area. Like 99.99% of all Studes in Oklahoma,
it is overpriced, but I enjoyed the visit, both with the car and the owner.
Film at 11.

Dave I did one of those kit replacements on my Avanti years ago and it worked
great. A one time kit is possible but I don't think those little tabs could be
bent more than once without breaking. NAPA price was only about $6.00 back when
bought a few. Still have some valves to repair but can't get motivated to do
the job.

Actually bought one for $6.00, and they handed me a box of 10. When I
pointed out the error, the parts guy told me to just keep them since
he'd never sell the rest anyway. <g>
