I ran across this and inquired about the 289.  The serial number he gave me
is VK516.  If I decoded this correctly then V=259, K=Oct, 5=1965, 16=16th
day?

I thought engine production ceased end of 63, early 64. This could be a
"very rare" engine, hand assembled by dedicated ex-employees using parts
that they carried out of the plant for years<GGG>

Yes, the foundry closed down shortly after the assebly line did.  Beats the
heck out of me what this could be?  The car is supposed to be a 64?

Its a french Citroen and ugly, We have a street rodded (turquoise) one
in the Tulsa area and it don't look any better, but thats this a.shole's
opinion.

I'd bet the '5' is really a '3'. He either mis-read it or mis-typed it.

I just checked my memory on the engine pad.  The engine in my 64
Cruiser is PJ 327.  All original & still running.

Now that would be correct for a 289 built Sept 27th 1963.
