Right, John....Since it is being sold withOUT an engine in it, Ted
could pop The Chicken Hawk's Twin-Turbo Stude 299 in there and finally
get this car under 10 seconds! Seems likes the present owner has only
been getting as low as 10.50 with a legendary, mega-inch Hemi. Better
that it gets into the NINES with a 299-Studebaker V-8, as has
3,600-pound Big Bird (a/k/a The Chicken Hawk.)
Kinda takes you back to the free-spirited 60s and 70s and the old
flower-power lyrics, "...when will they ever learn?" Geeze, what WAS
the name of that song...Where Have All The Flowers Gone? Was that it?
What group? BP

Pete Seeger 1961, sung by the Kingston Trio, Peter, Paul and Mary too.

Well, I say let's leave the motor out and just pop TED in there, Flintstones
style...should still beat 10, anyway.
And with Ted in it, it might be worth the BIN.

Jeez, I take goggles to a sprint car race and wear nomex pants at
Indianapolis (admittedly, I have Really good seats at Indianapolis). Them

Kum-ba-yah: who did that song again?

Hey tough guy....<seg>
We used to sit on the 55 gallon drum of oil dry in front of the timing tower
behind the starting line when the jet cars used to run <lol>..
Stood behind a Bronco once with the tailgate open... right behind the
starting line off to the right at Union Grove in Wisconsin..
When Doug Rose (Green Mamba double amputee owner/driver) his the afterburner
it singed the hair on my shins <g>...
Oh, and watching 'Captain Jack' McClure run his rocket go kart... That was
way cool!
Wacky racing at it's finest!

I think you misread the label, John. That 10.5 isn't his time, I think
it's the "class" he runs in, based on the max size of the rear tire
allowed. I didn't pay REAL close attention to the ad but I didn't see
any mention of a hemi engine...in fact, he's selling it without the
engine/trans.
And he STILL wants $27K for it???? Geez, Aunt Louise!!

You might be correct, 167 MPh in the 1/8 mile in under 5 seconds
could make it a 8-9 second car 1/4 mile car.

BigBob....you are correct.
That's a low 8 sec. car with the stops out. He just runs in in the
10.90 class, that way he's not beating it up every run.
Watching the score board.......it looks funny to see 9.90 or 10.90 e.t.
with a 160 or 170mph next to it!
