Any of you bikers out there used Metzler tires before? I just ordered a new
set and man they ain't cheap, nearly 500 bucks for the pair.
My Harley came with Dunlops on it which I found to be decent, when the rear
one wore out I replaced it with a Michelin that sucked big time,Im glad that
things wore out already.
Shes still got her original Dunlop on the front.
I had Metzlers many years ago and remember them as being very sticky, but
also long lasting,in a word,excellent.
Im just wondering if they really were that good or is it just my hazy
memory.
I could have bought much cheaper Dunlops, which is what all Harleys come
with(and are factory recommended) but Im just wondering if buying the
Metzlers is worth the extra expense.
I DO believe in having good motorcycle tires, you only have two and a sudden
deflation can cause brown spots in your shorts(G)

I just bought tires too....but brand for brand I can't help....I've got
a sport bike...totally different tire type.
As for "general" cross sections...Dunlop street tires sorta suck.
While they give relitivly good overall traction, the flatter
crossection tracks terribly on the So. Cal freeways. Any kind of
surface height difference and the tires jump around. Even painted
stripes....the tires hunt around.
The Metzlers I just bought drive much better, and I can say from
friends with Harleys...they've been happy with most anything but
Dunlops.
Good luck

The Metzler's will be worth the money if you ever drive on wet highways.

Hmmm, My new "Pilot Power" tires were more than a bit slippery in this
mornings rain. Especially the paint..cross walks, arrows, etc., hang
on!
That's one place I like the Bridgstones...much better in the wet than
most of the others.
ALL tires have their strengths, weaknesses, and comprimises. You just
have to put enough miles on your bike to change tires frequently enough
to be able to find a manufacture/design you like. THEN...they'll go and
come out with a new replacement tire, you try and DON'T like !!

You might want to try a set of Avon tires, made by the Brits, excellent
handling in wet weather and
with a solid rubber center section where you ride most of the time.
Not as RUBish as the German tires, Metzler sucks as a tire, very
expensive and too soft of a center section.
Also too many waranty problems for out of balance, takes too much
weight.
Michlins are having rubber composition problems, too soft, won't last
long.
Continentals used to be a good tire, if they still have the K 112,
although I haven't had these since the
KZ 1000 days.
Thirty years in a bike shop, just my prejudices.
Dunlops are too hard, you'll bust your but in a panic situation.

Got a Avon Venom last year,on the rear of the bagger. Probably the
best tire I've had yet.3000 miles on it so far, still looks like new.
Great traction even in rain. Cost about $160 here. Will definitely put
same on front when she needs it. They're supposed to last 8000 mi,twice
the normal life of a bagger tire.

AARRRGGGG !!! [the Larks bottom, that is!] Might be the first time this
car ever saw snow and road salt. Oh well.
