The pain is finally fading...
The brain fog is clearing too...
Had a superb time at York, and some of the good times are just now sinking
in....
Thanks to everyone that helped me out...Pete for helping me unload, Jim
Turner for babysitting my table, Jerry Forrester for also babysitting my
table (and not getting po'd when he got stood up for dinner Friday).. Frank
from the Keystone chapter for listening to me (and a thousand others) bitch
about the PA tax bandits... Bob Palma for not reaching across the table and
smacking me a good one during the 'OT' bitchfest that broke out Friday night
at the restaurant (it was a fun session...Jim Turner rolled his eyes all the
way back in his head <lol>)... Pete tried to steer, but it was already in
the ditch by then.... The table stuff was as good as ever, with the
exception of any high performance Stude stuff. Repro stuff at Tbolt's tables
was about it. I 'heard' of one supercharger setup getting sold as it came
out of the trailer it rode in on.. Saw one other blower, and saw a guy
walking around with an impeller, but that was it...
Chrome quality seemed to be up a bit, with prices to match.. Outside vendors
were smaller, and with less stuff. Cars outside were all over the place,
price wise and quality wise. I can't believe nobody snatched up that Daytona
JP had up for sale at $4k. It was real plain, but was real clean. Would make
a neat Stude powered street machine... That '61 Hawk on the trailer looked
like it would pull a Lee DeLaBarre if it was dragged off the trailer....
That Vette powered chopped '53 was sure pretty, but 28 degree weather with a
25 mph wind made looking at it painful. Almost as painful as watching 'poor
Nate' playing 'pit diver' and changing starters on a JP Lark that was for
sale (guess what? It was a ground <lol>.. The food sucked, but I was
prepared, as I bought a couple of corned beef on rye sandwiches (with fresh
ground horseradish) from the local deli on the way in. I got dirty looks as
I chow'ed down and broke a sweat. MMMmmmm. Every time I went over to talk to
Bbill and Ellyn, they were max'ed out busy, which is a good thing. Bbill
looks like he is feeling a whole lot better now, which is a great thing. Pat
and Emily Skelly made the rounds on Friday, but had to go to a funeral for a
close friend. Pat was saying it was sad, but the timing was good (sounds
crass, but I understand it perfectly)... They took off Friday night. Met a
bunch of NG people and put faces to 'handles' (which is something that I
still suck at).. Made a couple of closeout pass through's and snagged some
cool stuff... After I got my stuff loaded I helped Stephen Cade load his
stuff up (which is why I hurt, I think)..Wrote down all the promises, and
look see things and made plans to complete a half dozen deals in the next
few weeks..

I am feeling like a million bucks, all
green and wrinkled.
Never really got to see most of the show, and what I did see, I left drool
over it. I had to replace my computer last week and while I saved most
everything on a huge external HD I was going thru photos of other cars on
the HD to put in new computer. So now I want to refurbish the HFH and
looking around parts that would help my car look better cost almost as much
as I paid for the car.
I had those stainless and brass medallion license frames on the Hawk, one up
front got busticated and the one in the rear got corroded. Saw one NOS one
at the Shrock Brothers who were selling one for a guy, $295, and I saw
another in the other bldg $230, like a jerk I was driving around with these
expensive, rare things on the car.
Next year we are taking two tables, we did not have enough room to put all
the stuuf out. Took us just under four hours to get home, and just over 5
hours to unload the car. Things shifted and became firmly packed and I guess
the boxes were mating.
It was a good trip, Ellen got a chance to sleep late......till 7 am,
normally she is at work by then.
It was great seeing everyone, but I wonder, as you get older does the tme
between the shows seem very, very short
