Not really, Lee.

The series of novels was written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, author of the Tarzan novels.
They were published back in the '30s, IIRC. I actually have read several of them, but it's
been years since I did.

The hero, John Carter, is transported to Mars as a result of a dream, IIRC, and has many
adventures of the "sword and sorcery" variety whilst there. Not much actual "sorcery",
though. Kind of like a Western set on Mars.

Not exactly heavy reading, but good fun. Barsoom was the Martian's name for their planet,
BTW.
