I'm sorry, but I really like these cars:

Well - we all have our shortcomings, Mark. <g>

Don't be sorry Mark.  I like them also.  I would much rather have that
than a 58 Impala or Fairlane. 58 Edsel for that matter also.

I think that 58 is choice, could have bought one when I was 18 but
did'nt have $1,500.00.in fact i think all 53 - 58 sedan type
studebakers are great, the big ones never got the time of day but that
is changing,about time! SO THERE!

Nothing to apologize for, Mark. '58s are finally getting their
long-denied due.
Anybody notice this car has 15" wheels? They WERE a legitimate option
on this car, but I wonder if the 1957-style wheel covers would have
been furnished as an option with 15" wheels.

Not only that, but according to the ad, this car has a manual
transmission, hopefully with OD.

Mark,

Folks who turn their noses up at the '58s can pound sand!

They're great!

I will be driving my '58 Commander sedan on the annual Central TX SDC Spring
tour to E Texas next weekend. Then, I will sell it. It is a nice cruiser &
dependable as the sun rise.

Well, I was borned in 1958, so I have an affinity for those years I
guess.  My dad had a 58 Belvedere and those 58 Studes sure do look like
Mopar's at first glance.  Or maybe it's the other way around;).

Those MoPars are gorgeous cars which really outclass the Stude styling of
'58. Stylist Virgil Exner cut his teeth styling for Studebaker in the 40's.
I saw a to-die-for 57 DeSoto ht on ebay earlier this week at $15K. I made me
miss the 57 Royal Lancer D-500 I sold a few years ago. The car came from a
Studebaker auction in Portland OR in '01.
I still have a Belvedere ht, but it is a very unstylish '51. In the early
50's, Studebaker was hard to touch on styling.
