Savannah for the Georgia State Meet and orders are being taken for your
favor.  .  . so far Yuengling lager and Diet Coke.

Next Month, Gainesville, Florida for the Southeast Zone Meet and again
Yuengling lager and Diet Coke is on the order list.

Sept.  Omaha, Nebraska for the International Meet. . . with a mini tour of
Neola, Iowa and Lincoln, Nebraska Plus a stop over in Pottsville, Missouri
on the way up and back to the meet and again Yuengling Lager and Diet Coke
is on the order list. (If all goes well there may be an addition to the
Station more info to come)

Remember the rules of the Station:

Bring a chair and a friend. . . and plenty of B.S. to share, stay as long as
you like. . .and the last person there please put the flaps down on the tent
when you leave at night.

Since I can't make it to Savannah (closing on the new house tomorrow),
I am REALLY looking forward to the Hogtown meet and ESPECIALLY the
"rehydration station".  I promise to be on at least "semi-good"
behavior...  My old friend from Naples (the GM for the Benz dealer) and
his wife are coming for it also;  they enjoyed the state meet a couple
years ago and decided to come to this one.

cans or bottles? <grin>
Mertz Racing - 01 Apr 2006 13:26 GMT
Bottles preferred, but beggars can't be choosers!!  I have allways felt
beverages taste better out of bottles.
Jeff Rice - 01 Apr 2006 13:51 GMT
Personally...
I don't trust a micron thin layer of plastic lining an aluminum can
to prevent the leaching of aluminum into the beer.
Alzheimer's and aluminum beer cans...a connection?
I need to get funding for a long term study about this.

IMHO a pre-made black and tan is a poor imitation of the real thing,
just get a half case each of Guinness and Bass or Harp (or other stout
and lager/ale)

That said, the Yuengling version is pretty darn good for a pre-mixed...

Yeah, but it's right up there with Iron City in terms of hard to drink
(IMHO)

When it comes to beer, if I can't see through it I'm not drinking it.

Try the Yuengling lager, it doesn't cost that much more than Budweiser
but doesn't taste like Budweiser either.

getting a little OT...  I never liked Sam Adams.  Tried it here (DC)
recently and it was much better than I remembered.  Come to find out,
in the greater Pittsburgh area, Sam Adams is brewed and bottled by
Pittsburgh Brewing, the same company that makes Iron City.  Well, that
certainly explains that...

Sad to say theres nothing like the Maisels Hefe Weisen here in the
states but some microbrews come close.
Sam Adams is the only commercial beer that I can tolerate.

Anything less , is just colored water and alcohol.

What if you like the taste of Budweiser?  Yuengling has kind of the
microbrewery taste in my opinion, sometimes that's good, sometimes it's less
than good.  Not bad if you start out with it but if you switch to it it's a
little harsh to drink... at least until your 5-6th one and then they're
easier.  I find that I can drink Budweisers without a problem, if I drink
some of the heavier beers, I find myself trying to choke them down and by
the time I'm half-way through they're piss warm which makes it worse to
drink.  If I get a dark beer, I hope I can get it warm enough that it'll
start evaporating... oops, I spilled my beer.

I don't know what the deal is with popularity of Samual Adams... no matter
which brew I try they all taste like sh.t to me.  I'd rather drink an Old
Milwaukee, Schlitz, Hamms, Grain Belt, etc...

I don't...

You and I must have different senses of taste, then...  to me,
Budweiser tastes absolutely repellent unless served ice cold, and I
can't drink the stuff anyway because more than one or two will
inevitably cause a splitting headache the next AM, something that
doesn't happen with other beers (although Honey Brown does the same
thing, for some reason...)

I wouldn't go that far but I would say that I'd rather have a Yuengling
or Michelob (really) than a Sam Adams.

Man o Man,

Beer is like sex.  I have had a few BAD beers in my life, but only a few.  I
have had many many many mediocre beers, and a lot of great beers.

Bad: Red White and Blue, a nasty turkish brew that would just rip your head
open the next day, and some Korean crap that is best left un-remembered.

Mediocre: Genny, Bud, Miller, Coors, Rolling Rock, and all the variants
thereof (lite, ice, lowfat high fiber) etc etc.

Great: Sam Adams, Yeungling, Guiness Stout, Bitburger, Warsteiner Weitzen,
San Miguel (for the price to Buzz ratio + taste ) Dutch Heinekin (the US
stuff is mediocre), most of what comes out of taps in English and Irish
Pubs, most of what is sold in Germany, and Father Dunning's Homebrew.

Most of the great beer experiences have been enhanced by Bullshit artsts
helping me sample them.

The last time I was in the Maritimes, Schooner was a treat, but that
was coming from drinking Bud, so anything had to be.

Mark: Your suggestions printed and ready for use at the military liquor
stores.
They tend to carry a more exotic mix
