Hello Every One,
I am in need of a pair of fronts seats for my '62 Hawk.   I am looking
for a set to re-cover with new seat covers.   I already have a new set
of '62 Hawk pattern seat covers; black vinyl with white inserts.
Hoping to find recliners.
The cores of '62-63 hawk seats were about the same weren't they??  Once
the new vinyl is on they would look the same?
I will need the seats and the tracks they sit on.
Someone sent me an email last year from Houston area and had some to
look at, but I can not find it now.
I have a nice pair of BMW style seats I intended to use. And may still
use them for longer trips.  The closer I get to finishing this project
the more I lean towards the all stock/classic  look.   I am going to be
picking up work as a leasing agent here in Austin soon and plan to use
the Hawk.   Give the clients a special treat.  Also I can drive my Hawk
all over town and write off the millage as a tax expense.

Here's a side question.   The steel piece that sits between the seats
at the floor.  The one the console attaches to.   Does that mount above
or below the carpet

If Big Bob is reading this.  I found a transmission re-builder in
Austin I can afford, finally.  I have the Myers transmission adapter
and starter kit ready to go.  And the old transmission is out.  Was the
kick down shaft from the accelerator peddle to transmission hooked up
with a paper clip while you owned this Hawk?  Yikes.

the seats are the same from 62 thru 64 as is the plate they mount on.
If I remember correctly, the plate mounts on top of the carpet (at
least that is the way it was on the '63 GT I parted last week.

Recliners are going to be hard to find but they are out there.  I have
a good set of non-recliners here and, if you know anyone who is coming
to the SB meet, I could deliver them there the first weekend of may.

I have a set of '64 GT seats that I'll trade for the old tranny that you
took out... (the passenger side needs a welding repair)

I'm about 13 miles east of Austin

A PAPER CLIP???  Not even possible that it was me...I have a shelf with
C-clips, hairpin style clips and any number of other items I'd use
before I resorted to paper clips! :)

I'm glad to hear you're moving again on getting the GT going again.
What rebuilder are you talking to?  Monarch Transmissions on Metric
Blvd/Howard Lane in Pflugerville is owned and run by a street rodder
and knows trannies inside and out.  Aren't you using a R700 or did you
go with the 200R?

Give me a call if you need anything...I'm usually around on the
weekends, even if I'm stuck doing yard work or house repairs lately,
I've found time to piddle with Trish's convertible and we drove it to
the chapter meeting last weekend in Round Rock. I plan on getting back
on my Avanti as soon as I catch up around here. Maintaining two houses
and yards is a REAL PITA...especially when one is 10 acres and the
other is 4 acres!

L:et me know how it's going...and if you need shop space for a day or
so or any tools, give me a call. (512) 350-9758 is my new cell # .
Home is still (512) 272-5445 .
