I am getting ready to install a supercharger I purchased  about a year
ago and it is set up for an Avanti.  I need to turn the housing  for a
Hawk setup.   Now - which screws do I take out - the front ones with
the   1/2" hex heads  - or the rear ones having a flat blade screw
configuration???   Also what will fall  out???  Any torque specs???
Seals or gaskets needed to perform this operation????   Also - what are
you using for lubricant these days ???  It's obvious that I've never
done this before.   Tnx  in advance - Teddy Bear.

The "rotation" or position of the discharge "volute" on a universal, "SN"
supercharger, can be changed by removing the 1/2" hex heads. and just
turning the front in relation to the rear.  You don't need to take it apart.
The hole in the top center of the front needs to remain facing up, when
installed, for the sake of the oil pickup.  There are a lot of extra holes,
all the way around.
If it was an original Avanti "MS" supercharger,  You don't have any extra
bolt holes, to do that.  You don't have all the bolt holes that lineup with
the Hawk mount, either.  Hawks and Larks had an "ML" version that won't fit
Avanti's.  Pulleys are different, too.
Of course, holes can be drilled; but I think it would be better to leave a
stock "MS" alone, and get an "ML" or "SN".
Type "F", (not "FA"), automatic transmission fluid, from Ford, is the
latest product that was tested and approved by Paxton; as far as I know.
It's what I use.
 An excellent site: http://www.vs57.com/ .
Craig Conley at Paradise wheels has all the old Paxton parts, and services
them. http://www.paradisewheelsinc.com .

See VS57 Rotation, in Tech. Ref. at the VS57 site.  Jim says you have to
separate the halves a little.

And when you do there is a large O ring in there that you do not want to
destroy.
