Well, the young captain Matthew spent a week with me and is now back
safely in Georgia.  Too bad all young people can't be such a pleasure
to have around.  I'm already missing my "helper" and I'm back to being
the old crabby one man band.  Sure could have used him today when I
yanked the engine out of the Cruiser.  Hope he enjoyed himself despite
me not exactly being a very entertaining sort....  At least he didn't
pick up TOO many bad habits...he didn't go home with any tattoos or
with a box of cigars, so I guess his parents won't take a hit out on
me....  Now that I'm on the subject of youth, I know some of you have
read and responded to the various emails floating around about what we
can do to stir up enthusiasm in young people about our cars.  It's a
difficult subject to deal with and and although most of the suggestions
I have heard have been goofy I would love to hear more.
Calvin...well...you may have hit the old nail on the head, but we
really should do something.  I shudder to think about al the old guys
who are gone now and have taken so much information and stories with
them and wish I had spent more time when I was young just hanging
around and picking their brains.  Our club is getting quite old and it
would be nice to see some new blood before we go...maybe we can pass
some stuff along before we start pushing up daisys (or onions in some
cases).

I had a good time. Learned a little bit too. It was a little wierd this
morning waking up with no dogs barking. lol.
So, you've done started on the Cruiser eh? What else have you
discovered? Gotta be a few good parts there...
Matthew (keep those seats. :) Burnette

Jeff, ya should have grabbed him before he went back, I'm sure he would
have jumped and the chance...probably still will...
And Matthew, as far as the Cruiser, I yanked the engine/tranny so I
could get the corpse out the door this week.  Had some time to kill as
the bulletnose that was supposed to show early today couldn't make it
'till this afternoon.  Don't worry, I will save the seats!

School starts back in two short weeks. And Ocala is a pretty long
drive. I would, but... <g>

For some ungodly reason, school starts in mid August in most of the
south during the hottest month of the year.

Go figure...

I'm not sure why, but that's the way it is. And to mess us up worse, we
start on a Friday of all days.

You start early to make up for the days you'll have to take off when
the snow's too deep.

School starts at most of the schools around here Aug 16.  A few start the
15th and some the 17th.

We finish May 24th.
