I was just watching CNN's coverage of a protest yesterday in Beirut, and
right in the middle of the throng was a guy wearing a t-shirt with the
red-white and blue Stude S on it

I don't want to disillusion you...but that was probably a Pepsi logo
t-shirt.
Let's hope none of us Stude fanatics have gone that far!!

Seems to me, a fair number of Studebaker and Packards were sold in Lebanon
in the 1950's. In particular, one of the 'special order' '58 Packards was
shipped to Lebanon according to Fred K. Fox's article on them. There could
still be some Studebaker cars and trucks in that country, hopefully parked
away from the war zone.

One of those water drilling rigs blasted in Beirut during the first week
looked like a M-series truck but could have been one of those Russian
ZIL copies

I bought a very nice load of NOS Studebaker parts in '04 from a fellow in
L.A. who found them in Beirut. The condition of the parts was what would be
expected from a very dry climate.

I wonder if that 4-dr convert for the President of Israel is still
around.

I think I read somewhere that it was scrapped some years ago.

I just thought of something, if the ink is still on the shirt, I did not
print it.

I swear I never shipped a shirt to Beriut, but some shirts are in Isreal. I
believe I have a photo in my HD of a family driving a Jeep in Tel Aviv, and
one of the passengers has on a Manhattan Studebaker Club shirt. I know of
two Larks in Isreal, one is a convertible.

I remember back during the civil war in Lebanon, Newsweek ran a
picture of a bombed out building with a FINNED HAWK amongst the rubble.
