The world is full of surprises.

Not only did the engine turn over (after a little Marvel Mystery Oil
cocktail) the interior light works, the headlights and taillights work,
the AC compressor clicks when you turn the little knob on the AC unit
in the car AND the clock works!!  IT REALLY WORKS!!

Heater motor doesn't work and the AC fan is kinda crazy-comes on
sometimes...I think the switch needs to be cleaned.  Radio needs the
rheostat cleaned-very static-y when you change stations OR change
tone.

When you turn on the ignition, the temp gauge reads 240 and the gas
gauge registers full.  Must be a couple of shorts SOMEwhere!!  (Or 18
gallons of VERRRRY OLD gas!!)

Of course there are still brakes, seals, bearings, TIRES....(These are
over 30 years old but still hold air!)  ---the normal stuff.  And
don't forget the holes in the floor!

I'm ordering the ignition stuff from SI, getting the carb rebuilt and
getting the gas tank cleaned.  Ugly as it is, this little lump of coal
may BE a little diamond after all!

Just curious, what is the "Marvel Mystery Oil cocktail"?  I have a motor
that is stuck from sitting and I'd like to get it free.  I remember seeing
the recipiefor the mix here before but can't find it now.

Dunno about anyone else's cocktail but I just sprayed WD-40 down the
spark plug holes, then put MMO in each one and let the mess set
overnite.

This car had been setting on blocks since 1973 without starting, so I
just figured it would need SOMETHING to get it going.  The previous
owner suggested I remove the heads and REALLY get after it, but I'm not
that ambitious.

It still hasn't RUN, because I want to clean the gas tank and rebuild
the carb.  I have a NEW Edelbrock I'm THINKING about installing but
haven't made up my mind yet.

I felt that it was surprising that the CLOCK ran!

LITTLE project?   After looking at THIS car, I think it is called a
LIFE project!  But, hey, keeps me outta bars....;-)

Heh!  I was actually thinking of something along the lines, "That'll
keep ya off'n the street for a bit!"
