What do the critics have to say on this one?

Only remarke that I could think of.................WOW !
What A HI opening bid!!!
Wasted money on such a beautifull car. (close the gate)
Kenneth Robinson - 09 Aug 2006 22:03 GMT
At that price they should have repaired the blemish on the front fender
rather than just point it out.

1) They should have cleaned the rust on the hump inside the trunk
before they painted it.
2) It also looks like there's something "wrong" with the paint around
the driver's side fender vent. I won't even mention the paint on the
fender that they pointed out!
3) The top looks loose and sloppy at the rear side window...it'll flap
in the breeze!
4) Should it have "vinyl" interior? The pass side seat bottom looks
loose and sloppy and the tonneau cover for the top doesn't look like it
has any hold-downs inside the back seat area. It's gonna flop loose and
flap in the breeze, too!
5) Close the gate!    :)

Nice loking car...but $30K starting bid with a BIN over $45K???  I need
some of what they're taking!

Bob  ( I DO like the color and the engine...although the "F*** Me" red
paint looks a shade off!)

Looks nice but the top seems to fit poorly and the upholstery is somewhat
wrinkled on the side, maybe that's normal???

Damn John! Then I had better raise the Ins coverage on mine! <G>
Seats are wrong, (no buttons) carpets, carpet in the trunk, top looks like
my 17 year old daughter and my wife installed it, 6 cylinder auto? what a
power house that must be <G>
The "rust" that some one pointed out on the rear axle hump, looks like the
"factory" undercoat, as mine had some of that too. I don't think it's rust
My 52 ragtop is by no means a perfect restoration, but, I didn't figure that
mine was worth that kind of $$ either, (but I do now) <G>

Jim (mine had bullet holes, but no rust) Turner
itraseecab@aol.com - 10 Aug 2006 03:42 GMT
Jim, I think yours is much, much better looking that this one. I like
the engine, but I am with you,  an automatic with a six cylinder (even
a modified one) does not seem like a hot ticket.

Nice car but too many things wrong with it for that kind of money.  Jim
Turner's is nicer and his is a Commander.

Anyone notice the two identical dogs on opposite sides of the front
view? Looks photoshopped to me.
Also - why the big gap in carpet pieces on the pasenger side?
Barry - 10 Aug 2006 05:10 GMT
Yes, I was going to commant on those dogs!

I'd say if it brings the Buy-It-Now, Jim Turner's will be on e-bay next
week with a $60,000 BIN! <G> BP
Jim Turner - 10 Aug 2006 04:12 GMT
damn right on that one!
But, I'll offer it "pre eBay" for a N Grouper, at a mere $55K BOSEG!
Bob, you want first shot? I'll even deliver it to you and not ask for a
ride home! For that price, I'll fill the tank!

I don't like the top, it does not show the windows up, the seats are
wrinkled, and I would like to see the underbody, that would tell it all.
I do not think its worth it...... if it is I will go out and borrow the
money to finish mine......and then E-bay it.

As they say there is a sucker born every minute.

Your Commander would be a much better car than the 52 Champion w/ auto.
I have a friend with a red, street rodded '51 Cmampion in comparable
condition for about 30K
Much better-looking to this bullet nose lover.

I've always liked the "transition year" cars, like the '41 and '52.
I drooled for months over a 'green '53 conv in fair shape near my house
back in the early 1970s.
I'd take that car over this and get it done right.

I didn't even notice the dogs, but wonder if this fits the description.

Maybe Pat D can check it out.

You know, the more I look at the pictures of this car the more I
question them. There is just something about them that does not look
real.

The pictures were touched up, but not doctored. In Adobe Photoshop CS2,
Corel Photopaint X3, and Nikon Capture NX, there is a new feature which
allows you to enhance the shadow detail without adding a new layer, or
creating a mask. However, if in either of the above listed programs you over
compensate the sahdow detail, it throws a ghostly or artifical look on areas
that are properly exposed.

They (he) might have also used "sharpen" to a greater extent than he should
have. I am still concerned about the fit of the top, and why the windows
were not rolled up. That is the only way to tell if the top is installed
correctly, with windows up.

However, one thing I picked up on is that the toeboard fabric seems to be
falling or came loose from the floor. I know JP said the opening bid is
worth it, but fixing that one rust/puncture in the front fender could
indicate more trouble than meets the eye, and trying to match the paint
could be a real bitch. I think in my own small mind that $19,000 to $22,000
might be inline with a true value.

something.
