I'm going to look at a '57 Packard wagon about 10 miles from me tomorrow.
It is described by it's 72-year-old Kaiser-Fraser collector as needing
everything, but is all there (including the McCullough). He says the dash
is good, some rust in floors, cloth all bad. Original colors- bronze(ish)
and white. What's it worth?
Thanks,
Paul Johnson

I bought mine in 2001. It was mostly solid, but needed work around the wheel wells front and back, and of course the fenders.
The dash was good, but not the dash pad. Almost everything was there, except the pulley and tensioner arm for the blower.
The interior was all there, but lots of wear on the drivers seat.
I paid $2000 for it. Seemed reasonable. You might want to check the nada site. Here is what say about it.

Hard to say without pictures, but in the 3K-4K range if the sheet metal
is good.

On the 57 the quickest areas to rust are above the headlights, the
splash pans behind the front tires and the lower quarters on the rear
fenders. If all areas are in good shape and it comes with a
supercharger (slight misconception here.....not all 57 Packards came
with superchargers !!!!! ) I have two that did not.....and the
production orders match. And the dash is not melted or bent, it should
bring around 4300-4500 Typically the interiors are shot. The
original material did not hold up well at all, but it is being
reproduced. Please check out this link for another 57 Packard Wagon
for sale. I found it in the online Hemmings. I hope it is in your
area. Coincidently I am picking up a 58 Packard this weekend. FUN. If
you need any parts, let me know I have a great 57 Wagon parts car.
Everything is outstanding for parts except the floors, they are all
rusted out.

It was my understanding that 100% of 1957 Packards came with a
supercharger. Why would the production order say anything about a
supercharger if it was standard equipment? Usually besides engine
number, serial number, body number, key nos., exterior and interior
colors, and destination, only optional equipment showed up on the
orders.

There is no misconception here. ALL 1957 Packards were equipped with
superchargers as standard equipment. There is no mention of it on the
production order because it is standard. Many '57s were later converted to
4 bbl without superchargers at the owner's request since the supercharger
tended to give trouble. You will find a number of 57 Clippers around today
without the supercharger but they didn't come from the factory that way. I
suppose a customer could have requested a special order to delete the
supercharger from the factory (which WOULD show up on the production order)
but I have never encountered one.
