I see in the results that on the landracing.com site. On their record
run on Aug 12th, the car went through mile two at 134+, but mile three
speed was 86.  Any one know what happened?

Yes I do! Got back a few hours ago.
We'll write it all up on Salt2Salt.com very soon with lots of pics.
We did nine runs with our little turbocharged flathead, and went as fast as
137mph on our GPS device.  We raised our XO/BGC record  to 127 mph and set a
new XO/FALT record at 129 mph.  We now all have at least two high speed runs
on the salt in the car.  Stay tuned! National Geographic shot some footage
of team members and the car which could show up in mid winter......

Fantastic !!!!!  Congratulations and well done. Now, when are you guys
going to head down to North Carolina? We'd love to have  you run at
Maxton.

I took over 250 photos during the week we were there.  I'll start
typing up the illustrated version of the story tomorrow night and will
probably add a few things to it in coming weeks as pictures from the
other team members trickle in.

Greg left immediately for Philly to drop his daughter off at college so
I won't have his pictures to post for at least a week.  I will get
together with the rest of the guys to clean out the car and trailer on
Wednesday and I'll take a few pictures of that as well. As an aside,
I'll be taking a close look at the stuff we painted with POR15 and
Eastwood's Corroless (which they now call Rust Encapsulator) to see how
well they did.

The trip was really great.  As Greg mentioned we made 9 passes which
exceeds the total of all we made in our first two years going out
there.  The car ran very well.  The 86 MPH run mentioned earlier was
mine.  After I made a pass at 127.789 we richened it up a little and
dialed the boost up a quarter turn.  This was expected to put us over
130 but when I left the line, the engine kept cutting out.  I could see
that the GPS was only reading in the 80's as I entered the first timed
mile so I decided to pull off rather than possibly damage the motor.
We first thought that since the fuel had run a little low and was
sloshing away from the pickups.  The next run, with Mark behind the
wheel proved that was not the case.  The car ran the same with a full
tank.  We leaned it out and we went right back into the 126 MPH range.
We made the class change from XO/BGC to XO/FALT (and changed numbers
from 4594 to 1594) between my runs and Mark's runs.

We were very happy with how our car ran but terribly dissapointed with
the troubles that Dave Bloomberg and Jim Lange had.  Those guys are our
heros and we really wanted to see them do well.  I haven't read all the
notes here so I don't know what has been reported but Jim bent a couple
of valves and Dave broke his crankshaft.  Dave did make the 200 MPH
club though, driving the Panterra Kid.  We all wished it had been in a
Studebaker, though!  It was particularly hard for us because both Jim
and Dave said they are retiring from Bonneville.  We hope that we're
still running in a couple of years when they decide to make a comeback
tour!

I'll post a note when the full story appears on our website.

Man, you guys are great!  When you changed classes from XO/BGC to
XO/FALT was the car still using the turbo?  With the speed posted I
assume you were, but my question comes because of the fuel altered
rather than blown fuel altered.  What changes had to be made to change
classes?  Thanks for representing the Studebaker fraternity so well,
and for the great reports on your adventure.

I'm sorry.  There was a critical typo from me in that last reply.  We
switch class to XO/BFALT
All we had to do for the class change was cover the grill and
headlights.  On a lot of cars this is a big deal but on the C/K's it's
really just a couple of small pieces of aluminum and 2 hubcaps.  On
many cars you are covering up quite a large area.  Everyone really
liked the headlight covers.    We've actually had that stuff laying
around for a couple of years but the car never held together long
enough for us to use it!

It DID run a little hotter that way so we'll have to let a little air
through there next time.

I finally got through all of your pictures. Man what a great bunch of
photos! Thanks for sharing them with us.
