I need a windshield for a 62 Daytona.  I called Phillips Glass and Vic told
me it would be 3 to 4 weeks out for delivery.  I bought a windshield from
him for my 59 Lark and was pleased with it, but I need one for the 62 sooner
than a month.  Has anyone had any experience with Classic Auto Glass??   All
comments wanted.
Thanks
Ron

Check your local glass shop. Mine got a 63 avanti windshield in 1 day.

Yes, and he is excellent. He got me a NOS tinted windshield for the HFH,  a
few years ago. This past week my wife's Reatta would not pass NYS inspection
due to a large crack in the windshield. We called junk yards, Mr. Glass,
Four Star Glass, and finaly I contacted the Buick Reatta Club.

Called their parts suppliers, and none had one. There on my desk was a TW
with the business card section opened. Just as a Lark, I called and asked if
he had a 1989 Buick Reatta windshield. He rattled off the part number, then
told me the price. Then he asked who was calling, when I said my name he
broke out laughing and said he would bring it to Omaha if I wanted.

Problem is, the windshield costs more than the car is worth. We are now in
negotiations with the insurance carrier. Seems that they might pay for it as
the car was within 1/2 mile of the F2 Tornado that day, and there is an
impact ding where the crack started.

He ships the glass in the most careful packaging you can imagine, and he
stands behind his product.

It never occurred to me before, but telling a windshield supplier when
he was quoting a price to you that your name was "Bill Glass" does sound
oddly and appropriately hilarious <G>

I used Classic Auto for my windshield in my 64 Convertible.  They said
that their shipping cost would be high from where they were, but would
try to find one closer to me.  They found a Banded Tinted glass
winshield in Atlanta and I had it in less than a week.
