I am about to pull the engine and I have followed all the steps in the shop
manual for removing the distributor so it won't get damaged while pulling
the enging out.  When I lift up on the base of the distributor, it will move
about 1/4" and that's all.  I have pulled as hard as I can with some
leverage but it won't come out.  How can I get this thing out?

Thanks,
Tim

make an adapter for a slide hammer that looks like an upside down
question mark with a split to go under and around the distributor body.

It finally came out but I had to stand on top of the upper control arms and
pull with all my might with an occasional wiggle (of the distributor).

Humor-  Many moons ago while attending a Navy Instructor Training
Course (Podium Instructor) we were instructed to wipe the board erasers
in a vertical motion vs. a horizontal motion as not to "wiggle our
butts", anouther funny, one day the course instructor put "DBADH" on
the board and asked if we knew what it meant.  My answer was "Don't Be
A Dick Head", unfortuneately for me the correct answer was "Don't Beat
A Dead Horse", close, but no cigar <grin>.
