A couple weeks ago I posted that lomg-time Potomac Chapter member and car
collector Torrey Kirby wanted to sell ff part of his big collection of cars.
I asked him to send me a list and he finally did.  He added some
non-Studebakers and he has many more Studebakers than what he has listed,
but...here it is.  For more info call Torrey direct at 304 229-5750.  He
lives near Inwood, WV (Eastern Panhandle).  Keep in mind that many of these
cars have been sitting a long time.

Seriously.  I wish I had a place to store more stuff, I'd pick up one of
those Jeeps as a beater.

Coupla problems:

1) working on deal on house in Falls Church
2) I don't like hot weather
3) I have a job in Virginia.  I do not have a job in Florida.

other than that, it's a great idea! :)

(now if Skip Lackie's place is still for sale... and I could afford
it...)

I have been to Torrey's and most of these are parts cars and those that
can be restored will take a world of hurt and $$.  Not saying you
shouldn't take a look but if you are too far away you aren't missing
much.  Torrey would probably take less, a lot less for some.  I hear
that his area is being developed and he may want to cash in on the land
value.  Pretty neat to see the stuff however, like a nice junk yard you
can get around the cars and take a look inside!  Be careful however,
there are chiggers and poison ivy everywhere!!!

So what are chibbers?

Chiggers; Nasty insects that bite and bore into the skin and leave nast
pestules for weeks...  Use a LOT of deet!

Actually, I think the chigger is a spider, but anyhow, once the bites
show up you can end all the itching and infections by just washing the
area with lacquer thinner. The reason it takes so long to clear up is
that they are still there eating on you, and the lacquer thinner is
effective because it kills them. Apparently many  dermatologists, even
here in chigger heaven, do not know this since they recommend Calamine
lotion which is useless. Main symptom is a red itching rash around the
top of your socks or waist. But remember the lacquer thinner it really
works like magic.

Thanks for the update.  As a yankee who re-settled to a warmer climate
and land of rust free cars I am not an expert regarding local parasitic pests.

I did look it up here:

Always a good fall back reference...
