Besides the radiator Studebaker used in the first Avanti's, is there any
other kind that would work, without lots of fabrication?  I know removing
them is a major job.  Thanks!

I don't know about aftermarket fit but taking them out is far from
difficult. Remove the fan, probably not absolutely necessary but easier
than maneuvering around it, the shroud, trans cooler lines if it's an
automatic, attaching bolts, hoses and lift out.

What a coincidence ! ! ! ! ! I just got done pulling the radiator out of
the gold Avanti that I brought home from LA. What a pain in the neck. I
can't remember pullling a heavier radiator out of a car. I was also
thinking the same thoughts about replacing it with something from a more
modern car. I use a 3 row, V8 radiator from a mid-size 80's Monte Carlo in
my 54 Coupe. It has the inlet/outlet in the right places. Being the first
time I've pulled an Avanti radiator, it was interesting to me that it was
a cross-flow. Is this the first cross flow radiator in an American car?
The nice thing about the GM is that the dimensions are almost identical to
the original 54 Stude piece. The only thing I may have to do is make a
bracket to support it. I will look at it today and let you know what I
find out.

Thank you, guys.  I'm thinking about buying the 'cheap avanti' that's been
disassembled but missing a radiator and front brakes.  It's a '63 and not
a half mile away.

ISTR that my dad's '73 chevy pickup has a crossflow rad. so they were
