Let's all shop at
Sears!!!

I assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears
is treating its reservist employees who are called up? By
law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing
more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of
being called up...Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and
maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs,
for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that
Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its
contribution.

Suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a
manager to tell them why we are there so the company
gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.
Pass it on.

So I decided to check it out before I sent it forward. I sent the following
email to the Sears Customer Service Department:

I received this email and I would like to know if it is
true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very good source of
advertisement for your store. I know I would go out of my way to buy
products from Sears instead of another store for a like item even if it was
cheaper at the other store.

Here is their answer to my email......................

Dear Customer:
Thank you for contacting Sears
The information is factual. We appreciate your positive
feedback. Sears regards service to our country as one
of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can
make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden
they bear at this time.

Hmmmm... Sears treats reservists like vauled employees, while Wal-Mart has
recently joined up with the so-called "gay rights" groups to help push their
agenda. Easy choice for me.
Shoot, I always preferred Craftsman products to Chi-com junk anyway!
I can't imagine WalMart doing for a reservist who get called up, other than
hiring a replacement.

I worked with a guy who, after HS in 1943, went to work for Square D
untill his SSA number came up. He was soon a radioman for the duration,
flying the " Hump" and other things in the India - Chiane area.
After de-mob, he went back to Square D to keep him busy until his GI
bill sent him to college. At SD, he found that his vacation had been
building up while he was in the USAAC.
He took his vacation, then quit SD, by which time he had been in
college several weeks.

Some guys just get so lucky.

He worked until well into his 80s - he was too good a designer and
people kept throwing $$$ at him.

If I need one of their produvts, I think that I'll buy Square D.

I can't imagine WalMart do that for its employees at all. Work them 35
hours per week so they don't have to give benefits -- part time don't
you know.

My hat too is off to Sears for their support of their employees who
have been called up to active duty.  Indeed an great way to be a good
citizen.

When my son-in-law was called up, he was getting ready for his last
semester at NC State. He already had a job promised with International
Paper. All he had to do was finish and graduate.  When he informed them
of his situation, they say said, "No problem, the job will be here when
you are ready for it."  Now this was great because they did not have to
hold it for him since no contract had been signed and he had not
gradutate yet. (He had been in the Marines for several years, before
going to college, and entered the Guard to help w/college expenses.)
When he returned, he contacted IP and they said to finish college and
call them. His contact h ad kept in touch while he was in Afghanistan.
Once he gradutated he called up and was directed to personel for
information about salary. He was a bit concerned because a starting
salary had already been set.  The information was that his starting
salary was higher than had been agreed upon. The reason? Everybody else
got cost of living raises while he was gone, so why shouldn't he?
Needless to say, I buy International Paper everychance I can.
One more thing. His advisor at NC State kept in constant touch with him
while he was overseas. She even sent a baby gift when my daughter had a
child while the son-in-law was gone. When he returned he was out of
sequence as far as coursed he need and the semester they were offered.
She went to work right away and got him independent study classes for
those that would not be offered that semester. This saved him an extra
year of school. On top of that he was asked to speak at the graduation
of his Chemical Engineering Class.
