I didn't want to see Ford trashed so soon after he died.

I'm just surprised that there was no mention of his death on here period...
I guess he doesn't rank as highly as James Brown does.

I did get to briefly meet President Ford twice while working at a golf
course in Colorado in 1988 and 1989, he was an honorary member at the
Country Club of the Rockies and would often play the course when he was at
his home in Beaver Creek outside of Vail.  Mostly small talk about the
course conditions or his golf game, he was often an early player (6-7 am)
and would have to wait for the greens and tee boxes to have to be mowed
first thing in the morning, he never complained about having to wait and
would often tell us to go ahead and finish up if he approached a tee box or
green before we were finished with it.  Those two guys in the golf cart
behind him never did play... just kept a careful eye on you and had these
soft sided funny looking golf bags hanging off the back.

I did see James Brown's limo at the apartment complex I was living in while
in Augusta, what he was doing there I don't really know... didn't really
care.

Remember the cry.."buy a Ford,Nixon did" ?
I dont care WHAT political party,we need a decent president IMHO.

Historian agree that Ford's pardon of Nixon was the best thing he did to
end the issue and start the healing. I agree, and I was not a fan of
Nixon by a long shot.

One must realize that the main topics that interest the dumbed down
American public are those dealing with professional sports and
entertainment.

Most Americans could not locate Iraq or other countries of interest on a
map, let alone a globe. Most cannot even recite the order of succession
should a president and vice-president become incapacitated.

When the presidential heap is considered, Ford falls into the
lightweight category. (After all, he got beat by the ultra lightweight
Carter in his only Presidential election).

Perhaps, James Brown's fame is based more on notoriety...

I guess he did feel pretty bad getting beat by the worst President since the
civil war, and a guy from Georgia to boot   LOL

Yeah - notoriety. Couldn't have anything to do with the talent... nah.

PBS had a hour special on him tonight. Quite a glowing report. He was a favorite of the press because he was always honest and didn't hide from press conferences.
I was wrong at the time to hold the pardon against him.

By and large, we don't discuss politicians unless they are in office -
or running for one,  like Duncan Hunter, who is always good for a
laugh.

Like John, I thought that Ford was good, but mentioned him a year or
two ago only in connection to an empty freeway I seemed to find myself
- all alone.
