I finally got around to cleaning up the outside of the Saginaw steering gear
from my 56 President Classic.  The fluid that came out looked good.  I'm
considering just painting it and putting some new hoses on it.  Is there any
reason I should tear it apart and rebuild it if it was working fine before
the tear down?  The car was sitting for 20 years when I bought it in July of
2005.

Thanks,
Tim

Chances are that it will be OK as these units were not troublesome. I
would give it a shot.

There is an outfit in the northern US that does service them.  I'm sure
that Nate would have the link.

Tim, check out Lucas Stabalizer to fill you're steering box, it sure stops
leaking.

I don't think so; but is it holding oil around the pitman shaft?  I
haven't had one yet that did :/

Nate,

I saw no signs of leaking anywhere on the box.  I think I'll just freshen it
up and slap it back in.

Thanks to all,
Tim
