Hey guys,
I just spoke with a long-time friend today who got some VERY
not-so-good news about his health and life expectancy. It came as a
shock, to say the least.
He's got a 1961 Lark 2-door sedan, six, 3-speed complete but needing
restoration. He's also acqired almost every body panel (times 2) in
NOS form as well as many trim items and more.... mostly all NOS,
including tail light lenses and such..
There's also the COMPLETE R1/PowerShift assembly from a low-mileage
Avanti that he'd planned to install and a very good 4-speed
transmission set-up. He wanted to modify it with Studebaker power but
was unsure about which transmission he wanted so he sourced both.
Also, there are model 44 TT rear axles available (NOS if I remember
correctly), HD sway bars, Turner Disc Brake conversion and more. All
these parts are, as yet, not installed on the car.
There is also an NOS set of '63 Black and White (I believe) seat
covers for a Lark-type convertible with buckets. The front seat
covers have been installed on the seats (but never in the car) but
the back has not. He was going to have the back seat covers modified
to fit the wider sedan seat but that never happened.
I do remember one piece in particular... an NOS R1 air cleaner still
in the box!
In the next couple weeks, I will get an inventory of what all is
there, pictures, and pricing. If you have any specific '61 Lark
needs, let me know and I'll get back with you when I know what is
there. It may be a couple weeks but, I WILL keep all e-mails and
answer them as soon as posbile.
I am really NOT looking forward to parting this friend's dream car
project away but, hell, you cannot take it with you and he has much
more important issues to consider for him and his family. He's a
young guy with 5 kids at home... Do youself and your loved ones a
favor and get regular check-ups!

Thanks Jeff.... We've been friends for 20+ years and, hopefully, will
be a bit longer. It's not looking good, however.

What type of health problem does he have? Is he not able to do any work on
his Studebaker? I was dianosed with Multiple Myeloma nearly 5 years ago. Went
through 1.5 years of chemo and got down to where thought I couldn't do
anything. So I bought a 63 Avanti that turned out to need hog troughs and
after forcing myself to install the right side I regained a lot of my
strength. Since then I,ve bought 6 more Studes. We can't let JP buy them all.
I hope the best for your friend. Don't let him give up if possible! Like I
tell my wife, "Studebakers are THERAPY"Allen

Thank you...
He does have the support of his family and friends, to be sure! I

as well.
