Corvette Rescues '63 - 85 Avanti, '59 - 62 Lark and Hawk,
The (front) Shocking Story.
The common advice is to get '63 Buick Riveria front shocks for your
Avanti, Lark, or Hawk. There is a more appealing solution.
Again from "Dan the Man" on the KYB tech hotline, go for '63 - 85
CORVETTE FRONT shocks, not Buick. This will open up a wide range of
performance, race, drag, whoopee! shocks and other related suspension
parts. Get a Corvette catalog and dream about how many Gs you are
going to pull on the skid circle.
Installing KYB Gas-adjust KG4550, I used 2 fender washers to provide
more "bite" for the OEM bolt. I also replaced the lock washer, it
looked more "flat" than "lock".
As I mentioned before, It will be sometime around the Holidays when I
get everything back together, but based on a similarly suspended and
heavy vehicle, my old Volvo, I anticipate a ride befitting my Euro-
tuned posterior. Might be a tad tight for some.
Full details planned for the November Avanti Magazine, including
installation photos and a fully up to date interchange chart.
