We are liquidating the stock of a man that had to enter a nursing home, with
the proceeds going to his wife.  He is no longer able to care for his
Studebaker flock.
We hauled his 52 Commander two-door hardtop home a few weeks ago and, today,
after some wrangling including re-routing the gas line to a gas can, filing
the points, replacing the condenser, it LIVES!  It hasn't been started in 20
years!  I believe it is a 232 V8.  No smoke either!
It runs! Next maybe we'll do the brakes to see if we can get them to come
up, but so far, not bad for a car that was last driven in 1987.  It will be
on E-Bay soon, with the proceeds going to his wife.
As an aside, we also ripped out a 1966 Cruiser from the back yard of her
home, and it was so bad that other than the motor, it is junk.
Was fun to yank that 52 out tho... The owner had plans for it, as there is
NOS chrome for over the back window, new windshield to replace the cracked
one, new chrome rocker plates, new clutch plate, hood, and other parts ...
We hope this will bring something on E-Bay, for his wife.  There are a lot
of spare, NOS parts.  When you see it, bid 'er up!

OK, I apologize for the shameless promotion....  But this car is quite
restorable.....

Sounds like a twin of the one I've been sort-of working on for JP; is
yours an OD?  A very nice driving car, although JP's has "armstrong"
steering ATM (can't get grease in the thrust bearings yet, but I haven't
tried all my tricks yet.)

I don't know if it has OD or not, but it sure is three on the tree.....
We were just glad to get the thing started!  And it doesn't smoke.
Should be a good project for someone.

Hi Dick,

Where are you and the car located? Just curious as I am a 52 model
also and every 52 I have ever driven has been the best driving and
riding car I have ever owned. I currently have a 52 Commander 4 door
with original interior. Last run in 79 but the engine turns over. I
have had sucess in the past with 6 volt electric fuel pumps working
just fine on the car. The chrome is another matter though.

Bob - The car is located just outside tiny New Boston, IL, right on the
Mississippi River. Amazingly, the fuel pump pumped gas out of the gas can
sitting on the ground!

The 66  would also have a flanged axle rear end in it. Save that too.

where located?  I am planning on selling or trading my '54 coupe
project for a '51 or '52 as the '53 sits so low I have trouble getting
in and out, oh hell, maybe make it a straight axle gasser? <grin>
