From a ebay looker:

Hi... Sorry to bother you with this but seeings how you seem to really
know your Stude's I have a quick question that maybe you can help
with... I have a '48? "short narrow" (as my friend called it) Stude box
and am wondering what it might be worth?? Obviously it needs work but is
in pretty good shape..I own a body shop and my friend who I was
restoring it for passed away about a year and a half ago and apparently
I inherited the box...the body work on the fenders is done and I also
fabricated new cross braces (look just like factory) for underneath the
bed and they are already completely welded in place...I also have a
brand new (still in box) front panel for it and I also believe a new
tail gate (still in box)... If you or someone you know might be
interested in it you can also call me if you like and I can give you
better details...my number is 402-362-7668.. Any feedback you can give
me on this would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you in advance.. Scott.

So did you answer him, John?
Or are you just giving us a "heads up"?

Turns out it may be a C cab bed and fenders.
