your Hawk should be proud of your persistence!

Some other info on this at: http://sterkel.org/avanti/documents/oil_series_for_classic_cars.htm

This is raw data I am collecting for a study on additives.  The
question I am working on is:
1. is there is any point in using them as long as the base 15w-40 oils
are excellent,
2. is there a point to use them to upgrade a oil with less optimal
additive package, but has other redeeming value, such as cost, or
availability.

(What I do to entertain myself, I cannot stand watching pro sports!)

I still use good old fashioned Castrol GTX 20/50 in my "daily driver"
259 powered Lark...with zero oil related problems!!
This car goes with me from a .5 mile trip to the store to just over
600 mile round trips to the Famoso (Bakersfield Ca.) drag strips for
special races and what ever required in between.  The ol beast sees
17,000 to 19,000 miles a year.
Been driving the same trips for just over 7 years now...again...no oil
related problems.

I'd still like to know what everyones worried about!

One consession...the new engine for my Conestoga will see nothing but
Mobil 1.

And Redline has a minty after taste.
