Hey Guys,

I am looking for a good replacement frame for my '53 hardtop.  I believe
that from '53 to about '61 they should be interchangeable.  I am located
in Maryland and don't mind traveling a few hundred miles, if anyone has
something I can buy.  Any leads would be appreciated, also.

Thanks

Stay away from any 6-cylinder early C/K frames... Best choice is a GT
Hawk frame (you have to remove 2-brackets), next best choice is 1961
Hawk (there is some ambiguity whether the frame is thicker than earlier
years...but nothing concrete),  The V-8 C/K frames from '55-'60 are the
same... somewhat better than your original frame.... but not enough of
an "improvement".

I have several good GT frames here for sale.  Unfortunately, I am in

Bob Peterson from CandB Studebaker from the bayarea is
bringing a load of California frames to Reedsville.
You will have to order them ahead of time. 510 390 8111.
He will drop your frame off along Interstate 80 if you want.

just a "FYI" - aside from possibly having to swap brackets around, a
58-up frame will have different rear spring hangers than an earlier
frame (the springs became asymmetrical at the same time that the
driveshaft was changed from 2-piece to one piece)

Larry  Damn, dug it out and found it's from a Lark, don't waste a trip.
Lee  D. in Fort Wayne might be able to bring a GT frame to Reedsville.
