Yes, it is the Grafton family. He wants major bux for it , but it may be a
good deal for you, Bo, depending on how much good NOS is involved and the
conditions of the cars. He is going to have to be willing to sell at far
below the actual value of the stuff to move it as a package deal, which is
what he wants to do, so it may well worthwhile for someone with deep
pockets, lots of storage room, and a good truck & trailer. If the cars are
all in #1 or 2 cond., it would be like getting the parts inventory for
nothing, but that is a big IF.

Replying to myself: Grafton has 4 good unrestored Packard Hawks and a pile
of parts for them, but Packard Hawks have not been making reserve on ebay in
recent months, & it would take a long time to sell 4 unrestored ones off at
any kind of decent price. It is a thin market, & just a few cars could flood
the market. They would be good investments for someone with the youth & bux
to buy and hold long term, though. The value of the 13 vehicles is probably
in the $70-90K range, so there would have to really be a huge quantity of
prime parts to leave a sufficient profit motive for any dealer to spend the
huge amount of time & money handling such a collection will require. (I have
no doubt that there is a great deal of quality parts there, though) Adding
Fords & Pontiacs to the mix probably lowers the value of the bunch, and he
is probably dreaming if he thinks he can sell all of the cars & parts
together for more than a third of their retail value. Dealers do not buy
wholesale lots at retail prices. It is more than I could swallow by myself
at any price. I wish them well and encourage them to take their time and
sell their treasures off incrementally or hire a reputable auctioneer. If
they go that route, I will be glad to attend to make sure nobody buys
anything too cheaply. lol.

Nope, not for me. Winston's a nice fellow and I hope it works out for him.
But, trying to be realistic about this stuff. I don't think any businessman
can afford to buy the stuff at the listed price (very definately high
retail), haul it, store it, inventory it and hope to make any money off it.
Thus the primary investment incentive is wiped out. I think JP probably has
it right. Atlantic City at 3-1 odds is a much better investment!

I believe you are right. I haven't seen the cars or the parts, but if it is
all really worth the $175K asking price, he will be doing well to get 75K
out of it on a prepaid package deal. Someone will probably come by in a year
or 3 and catch him in a selling mood and walk away with it for a
ridiculously low price, and then make a killing on it.
