About a year ago my buddy was rummaging in my scrap pile while I was
busy under a car and asked me "is this thing scrap, can I cut it up?
It was on the scrap pile"...
Not really looking, I said go ahead..
After all, it was on the "pile"..
It was a funny looking cradle I had for pulling bell housings without
yanking the engines...supported the rear of the engine and straddled
the frame...
Had to make another one yesterday...had a GOOD welder do it for me and
it sure looked pretty but didn't work quite like the old ugly
one....but it worked...
Moral of the story...LOOK before you "leap"...and be careful where you
leave stuff!!

I make 'em by placing a correctly cut 1x4 across the frame with two
uprights to intersect near the rear of the oil pan.  Works like a charm
and costs nothin' since I use scrap wood.

The  "fancy" one bolts to the two body to frame bolts and then has two
threaded rods with jam nuts going up to the meaty portion of the block
at the rear.  Adjustable up and down.  The old one was a strange
looking thing with a rod that slid across and then had a couple
cobbled up "posts" that went up to the block...
They both work.  Saving time?  Maybe...but still a dirty job..
